3. Epoca Dorada Mexican Cinema
Mexico already had a long film tradition, and numerous Mexicans had been major players in early Hollywood cinema, Dolores del Rio and Ramon Novarro being the most notable. Others such as Emilio Fernandez, Antonio Moreno, and the Rodriguez brothers all did time in Hollywood during the ‘20s or ‘30s (Fernandez even claimed to have been the model for the Oscar statue). Thus the seeds of Mexico’s Epoca Dorada had already been planted well before the arrival of American celluloid.
